CHRISTMAS LIGHTING LOS ANGELES

How to Hire a Christmas Lighting Company in Los Angeles

A Hiring Guide

Good advice, whether you book with us or not. Here’s what actually matters when you’re choosing someone to light up your home or business this season.

Shop around. Really.

There are a lot of Christmas lighting companies in Southern California, and honestly, that’s a good thing for you. Prices, scope, and quality vary a lot from one company to the next, and the only way to know you’re getting a fair deal is to get more than one quote.

We’d rather you make a confident choice than an uninformed one. So before you book anyone, including us, here’s what we’d look for.

The 6-question checklist

1. What’s actually included in the price?

Some quotes cover labor only. Others separate out lights, décor, take-down, or repair visits.

Ask before you sign: Does this include the lights and décor? Is take-down and storage included? Is a mid-season repair visit included, or extra?

2. Who’s doing the electrical work?

This is wiring on your roof and in your trees, exposed to months of weather.

Ask: Are you licensed, and with what license? Are you insured? Is your crew in-house or subcontracted?

3. What’s the response time if something breaks?

A bulb or timer failing mid-season is normal, what matters is what happens next.

Ask: What’s your response window? Is that repair included in the price, or a separate call-out fee?

4. Do you see the design before it goes up?

A good display is planned around your property, not hung on the fly. Some companies will show you a photo of your own home with the proposed layout marked directly on it, so you know exactly where lights are going before anyone climbs a ladder.

Ask: Do I get to see and approve a design before installation? Can I see examples of similar work?

5. How long has the company been doing this?

Ask for references. A company with years of Christmas-specific installs has usually already worked through the mistakes a newer one hasn’t hit yet.

6. Get it in writing

Whatever you decide, get the scope, price, and timeline in writing before the crew shows up. A written quote protects you as much as it protects the company you hire.

A quick note on price

Flat-rate installs vary with size and design complexity, and what’s included differs from one company to the next, so compare scope as well as prices. Commercial and municipal programs run considerably higher and are usually scoped individually.

If a quote comes in far below everyone else’s, ask what’s not included, that’s usually where the difference hides.

When a different kind of company might fit you better

We’re a full-service provider: we supply, install, maintain, remove, and store everything, for one flat rate. That’s the right fit for most people who want the display without the hassle.

It’s not the right fit if you want to own your own lights outright and store them yourself year to year, in that case, look for a company that sells materials rather than one built around full-service care.

It’s also worth shopping for smaller local installers if your project is simple and budget is the deciding factor, since season-long maintenance and storage add cost that a bare install doesn’t.

Where we fit, if it’s useful

We’re a licensed California C-10 Electrical Contractor, in business since 2001, with in-house crews. Our price is flat, the same whether you book in September or December, and includes design, lights and décor, installation, season-long maintenance with a 24 to 48 hour repair response, take-down, and storage. We serve homes, businesses, and municipal properties across LA, Orange, and Ventura counties.
